There is no doubt that it is hard as a writer to get published. It’s one reason why technology has married with the desire for publication to allow writers the chance to take charge and self-publish. But there is no doubt that it is a hard slog to do the writing and manage the self-publishing process – design of covers, professional editing, working with retailers and marketing. And marketing. And more marketing.
I’m very excited to watch the development of Australia’s Digital-First Publisher Momentum Books and see their catalogue grow. While not the first Australian Digital-only, they are the first backed by a major Australian Publisher, Pan Macmillan Australia.
I have now seen that they have ‘Momentum Monday’ where writers can send in submissions. From their website: Momentum accepts submissions weekly on Mondays between 12.00 am and 11.59 pm AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) to the email address firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please read all details carefully in the submission detail here. It’s really important to understand what they are, and are not looking for and only submit appropriate content. It’s a great opportunity for writers and one that I hope grows the Momentum list with wonderful Australian writing.
